MDI is growing, and we’re adding a brand-new Purchaser position to our team! The Purchaser will help ensure we have the right products and materials available to meet customer needs, working closely with our established vendors and teams throughout the company. Because this is a new position, it’s also an opportunity for the right person to grow their knowledge and responsibilities as our business continues to grow. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position with a schedule that allows for early Friday afternoons off. Position Summary The Purchaser is responsible for coordinating the purchase of products, materials, and supplies necessary to support company operations and customer needs. This position works with vendors and internal departments to maintain appropriate product availability, manage purchasing activities, and support accurate and timely fulfillment of material requirements. Key Responsibilities Purchase products, materials, and supplies based on inventory needs, customer orders, and operational requirements. Prepare, submit, and maintain purchase orders. Monitor inventory levels and purchasing needs to support appropriate product availability. Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, orders, and delivery schedules. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on delayed, incomplete, or incorrect shipments. Review purchasing information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed. Maintain accurate purchasing, vendor, product, and pricing information within company systems. Coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Production, and other departments regarding material needs and availability. Assist with vendor relationships, product sourcing, and pricing as appropriate. Develop knowledge of vendor relationships, product lines, purchasing strategy, and inventory management Identify and communicate potential shortages, delays, cost changes, or other purchasing concerns. Maintain organized purchasing records and documentation. Assume additional purchasing and product-management responsibilities as knowledge and experience develop. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in purchasing, supply chain, business, or a related field preferred. Previous purchasing or related experience preferred. Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items. Comfortable working with numbers, pricing, quantities, and detailed information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company purchasing and inventory systems. Ability to communicate and work effectively with vendors and employees throughout the organization. Physical Requirements Ability to perform prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout an office and warehouse environment. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
