Overview Join our dynamic plumbing and drain service team as a Pump Truck Driver (Pumper) , where your skills will help keep residential, commercial, and industrial properties operating safely and efficiently. In this hands-on role, you will operate pump trucks and related equipment to provide professional pumping and waste removal services, including septic systems, holding tanks, and other designated pumping applications. Your attention to safety, equipment operation, customer service, and job-site procedures will ensure every job is completed efficiently and professionally. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, operating heavy equipment, and providing reliable service to customers. Responsibilities Safely operate and drive pump trucks to and from residential, commercial, and industrial job sites. Operate pumping equipment, hoses, valves, and related tools to properly complete pumping services. Perform pumping services for grease traps, septic systems, holding tanks, and other designated systems. Inspect pump trucks, hoses, fittings, tanks, and equipment before and after each job to identify damage, leaks, or maintenance concerns. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues to management. Follow all applicable safety procedures, traffic laws, environmental regulations, and company policies. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, office staff, and other team members regarding job status and service needs. Provide arrival and departure updates to the office and communicate any delays, problems, or changes to the job. Take required before-and-after photos and provide detailed job notes documenting work performed. Record pumping information, including gallons pumped or other required measurements, whenever possible. Maintain clean and organized trucks, equipment, hoses, and work areas. Respond to emergency pumping calls when required and follow company procedures for after-hours and emergency services. Assist with basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary. Properly dispose of pumped materials in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures. Follow customer instructions and company procedures while maintaining a professional and respectful attitude on every job. Requirements Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the pump truck being operated. Acceptable driving record. Previous experience operating pump trucks, vacuum trucks, septic trucks, or similar heavy equipment is preferred. Knowledge of pumping equipment, hoses, valves, tanks, and basic mechanical systems is a plus. Ability to safely operate heavy vehicles and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Ability to perform physical work, including lifting and handling heavy hoses, equipment, and tools. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and in potentially dirty or demanding job-site environments. Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and office staff. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately complete job documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team. Reliable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to respond to scheduled and emergency pumping calls. Professional appearance and customer-service attitude. Ability to identify and report equipment problems, job-site hazards, or changes in job conditions.
