Public Transit Program Driver Trainer- Effingham
C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity CorporationCentral Illinois Public Transit is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Driver Trainer to maintain driver excellence and ensure best practices are in place. This position develops and implements driver training, conducts annual competency testing, maintains training documentation, and provides fill-in driving support for public transit services as needed. This position will be based in Effingham but will require travel to all counties within the CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation's service area. What You’ll Do Develop, implement, and document group and on-site driver trainings. Train drivers on safety practices, customer service, recordkeeping, preventative maintenance, emergency procedures, passenger assistance, accident reporting, professional conduct, proper use of seat belts, lift operation, and other driver handbook requirements. Conduct annual driver competency testing and monitor completion of assigned training, core training, and recertifications. Observe drivers on routes and during the workday; recommend retraining or report policy violations to appropriate management when needed. Maintain driver training records, track testing performance, and submit monthly training reports. Assist drivers and maintenance staff in obtaining required CDL and passenger endorsement requirements within established timelines. Serve as a substitute driver as needed and provide safe, reliable transportation for the general public while obeying traffic laws and following all safety regulations. What We’re Looking For High school diploma or GED Multi-passenger transportation driving experience Current valid Class C CDL w/passenger endorsement preferred or willing to obtain within 3 months Pay and Benefits Hourly wage: $20.20 with a $.25/hr. increase at 90 days Health, dental, vision and life insurance Vacation, flex time, sick leave, and paid holidays 403(b) retirement plan Why Work Here?
