Obsolete SiteDuties Provide emergency services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Provide initial incident command support until responding emergency units arrive on scene. Responsible for caller interrogation to determine the problem and the nature of the call. Identify nature of emergency, level of response required based on local protocols, and provide any additional information to the responding units. Transfer caller to proper agency as determined or dispatches a variety of emergency equipment to include police, fire, ambulance, rescue or hazardous materials units. Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, telephones, radios, and station alert systems. Provide emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Position is subject to shift work. Incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, requiring an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays) and must wear a uniform. Employee is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to duty station at the regularly scheduled time. Incumbent will be performing duties in a highly stressful, restricted office environment. Employee is required to obtain and maintain certification in CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness and Alaska State Police Information Network. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I and II. Continuous current certification is a condition of employment. The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch education. Employee is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training. Employee must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent, or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software. Employee must obtain and maintain a valid state of Alaska driver's license. Incumbent must obtain and maintain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission, for access and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information terminals when applicable. Employee is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander. Employee and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty. Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations. This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85. Those individuals not currently occupying a drug testing designated position (TDP) position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position and periodically thereafter.
