Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Project Supply Chain Lead is responsible for end‑to‑end material readiness and supply chain execution for assigned automation projects-from kickoff through shipment and closeout.
You’ll ensure that materials, suppliers, logistics, and inventory strategies align with project schedules, cost targets, and quality expectations. This role is ideal for a proactive planner, a strong cross‑functional communicator, and a hands‑on problem solver.
Key Responsibilities
Project Material & Logistics Ownership
- Own the complete project material plan from kickoff through shipment and closeout.
- Manage inbound/outbound freight, consolidation strategies, and damage‑prevention practices.
- Plan and execute project shipments, including partial shipments and customer delivery windows.
- Oversee freight claims, carrier performance, and freight cost controls.
Early BOM & Long‑Lead Planning
- Support early Bill of Materials (BOM) development for long‑lead and critical items.
- Convert project schedules and engineering BOMs into actionable procurement and kitting plans.
- Identify, quote, and release long‑lead items early to protect project timelines.
Supply Risk & Data Governance
- Maintain a project‑specific supply risk register (capacity, obsolescence, compliance, logistics).
- Ensure item master data accuracy (lead times, MOQs, UOMs, sourcing rules).
- Maintain approved manufacturer lists, alternate sources, and revision controls.
Supplier Quality & Performance
- Lead supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), audits, and defect containment.
- Partner with suppliers on root‑cause analysis, continuous improvement, and performance accountability.
Supply Chain Operations Leadership
- Oversee core supply chain functions, including: Production planning; Forecasting; Material procurement; Inventory control; Warehousing; Outsourcing; Vendor selection; Distribution
- Confirm material availability and maintain appropriate inventory levels across projects.
- Analyze inventory reports and plan requirements to ensure healthy inventory positions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Strategic Sourcing or departmental leadership.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, materials management, or project‑based operations.
- Experience with BOM management, ERP/MRP systems, and supplier performance management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of logistics, freight management, and inventory optimization best practices.
- Familiarity with the automation industry is highly preferred.
- Project management experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel preferred.
- Experience creating dashboards or BI reports is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
