Department Planning and Production Control Reporting to Planning and Production Control Manager, as assigned Summary Statement The Project Scheduler develops, maintains, updates, and analyzes integrated project schedules used to manage shipbuilding work and forecast project performance. The position converts validated inputs from Project Management, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and other functions into logically linked, time-phased schedules. The role is responsible for schedule integrity, status, forecasting, variance identification, and timely visibility of schedule risks and constraints. The Project Scheduler supports informed decisions by providing reliable schedule of information from major project milestones through near-term execution planning. Primary Responsibilities: Develops, maintains, and updates logically linked project schedules that integrate major milestones, engineering, procurement, production, testing, commissioning, and delivery activities. Uses validated functional inputs to establish activity logic, durations, calendars, constraints, and required dates while preserving clear ownership of source assumptions. Performs routine schedule status updates using approved progress information and maintains accurate actual dates, remaining durations, forecast dates, and milestone status. Analyzes critical and near-critical paths, float, schedule variance, sequencing conflicts, and emerging delays and communicates material impacts to Planning, Production Control, Project Management, and functional leaders. Supports development and maintenance of schedule baselines and preserves distinction between approved baseline, current status, and forecast information. Coordinates with Project Planners and functional departments to incorporate approved build strategies, work packages, engineering releases, procurement needs, production interfaces, and test requirements into the integrated schedule. Produces schedule extracts, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, and other planning views required for project and production-control meetings. Supports scenario analysis, recovery planning, resequencing, and what-if schedule evaluations to help leadership understand the effect of constraints, changes, or potential future workload. Applies schedule quality checks and consistent coding, calendars, logic, naming, and status practices to maintain reliable schedule data across assigned projects. Supports continuous improvement of scheduling standards, procedures, templates, and reporting methods within Planning and Production Control. Education/Experience (Required) High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, planning, production control, shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, or a comparable project environment. Demonstrated ability to develop or maintain logic-based schedules using predecessors, successors, milestones, durations, calendars, and progress status. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and project scheduling software. Ability to analyze schedule information and clearly communicate schedule risks, changes, and forecast impacts. Education/Experience (Preferred) Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, operations, project management, or related field. Previous shipbuilding, marine construction, heavy manufacturing, or defense-industrial scheduling experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or comparable CPM scheduling software. Experience with integrated master schedules, resource/capacity planning, ERP/MRP systems, baseline control, or schedule performance reporting. Project controls or scheduling training/certification such as PMI-SP, AACE PSP, or equivalent. Physical Requirements (Applicable to all including Administrative and Office-Based Roles) The employee must have correctable vision to 20/40 , however contact lenses are not permitted in certain production area positions.
