Division: National Project Group About Owen Electric Company Owen Electric Company’s National Project Group (NPG) focuses on industrial and mission-critical projects, including hyperscale data centers. These projects require close coordination among project teams, suppliers, and corporate functions. Position Summary Owen Electric is seeking a Project Purchaser with direct experience supporting hyperscale data center construction. This role will manage project-level purchasing and material coordination, working closely with Project Leadership, field teams, logistics, and Corporate Purchasing. The purchaser will help ensure the project has the right materials and equipment, in the right quantities, at the right time. This includes maintaining procurement records, tracking long-lead items, following up with suppliers, and raising cost or schedule concerns early. Reporting relationship: The position is assigned to a project and receives day-to-day direction from Project Leadership. It has a solid reporting line to NPG Divisional Leadership and a dashed reporting line to Corporate Purchasing. Key Responsibilities Project Purchasing and Procurement Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with project requirements, approved vendors, company procedures, and delegated approval limits. Obtain and compare supplier quotations for materials, equipment, and project services. Confirm that purchase orders reflect the correct scope, specifications, quantities, pricing, delivery terms, and required dates. Coordinate with Project Leadership and field teams to confirm material requirements and release timing. Maintain current procurement logs, commitments, open orders, and delivery schedules. Hyperscale Data Center Coordination Track long-lead electrical equipment and materials, including switchgear, transformers, busway, generators, and medium- and low-voltage cable. Coordinate procurement schedules with project milestones, installation sequences, approved submittals, and site logistics plans. Identify potential shortages, supplier delays, substitutions, and other procurement risks, and escalate them promptly. Confirm that proposed substitutions or approved equals follow the project’s review and approval process before orders are placed. Expediting, Logistics, and Documentation Follow up with suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, manufacturing progress, shipment dates, and delivery commitments. Coordinate delivery details with project logistics and site personnel, including receiving requirements and delivery constraints. Track back orders, damaged or missing materials, returns, and warranty issues through resolution. Maintain complete purchasing records, including quotations, approvals, purchase orders, change documentation, and supplier correspondence. Work with Accounts Payable and project teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and confirm receipt documentation. Collaboration and Alignment Coordinate with Corporate Purchasing to align project buying with company vendor relationships, purchasing practices, and reporting requirements. Communicate procurement status and schedule risks to Project Leadership. Work with estimating and project controls to support budget tracking and review of procurement commitments. Support closeout by resolving open orders, outstanding credits, and warranty or documentation items.
