NSB Omega is searching for a Project Manager - Structures for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John's, NL. Assignment Description Our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking a Project Manager - Structures for their Non-Regulated team. The position will focus primarily on projects relating to water control structures at Churchill Falls but may be assigned other project work based on business priorities and as need arises. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget; Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets, including regular reporting to NL Hydro leadership; Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure engineering designs, specifications, and deliverables meet corporate standards and applicable codes. Oversee and review tender packages, participate in contract evaluation and award processes, ensuring quality and value for NL Hydro; Manage project teams, including internal engineers, contractors, and consultants, to achieve project objectives; Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, verify project progress, and provide support to site teams; Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, and maintain the project risk register throughout the project lifecycle; Facilitate effective communication across stakeholders, ensuring that approved project changes are reflected in the active budget and schedule; Ensure contractor compliance with NL Hydro’s Contractor Safety Management Plan and corporate and Contractor HSE policies; Lead project closeout activities, ensuring smooth transition of completed assets to operations; Promote continual improvement through lessons learned, innovative approaches, and sharing best practices with other project teams; Submit timesheets and documentation in accordance with NL Hydro’s project management requirements; Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association. Equivalent professional engineering (P. Eng) registration can be considered; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or other similar Project Management certification is preferred; Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience; Strong knowledge of the procurement and contracting process, contractor management and contract negotiation skills; Strong knowledge of risk facilitation, risk management, and risk mitigation on complex projects; Strong knowledge in project scope definition, change evaluation and project change management; Strong experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, and estimating is considered an asset; Experience with managing projects for water control structures and dams is considered an asset; Proven experience managing complex projects in remote locations; Strong background in coordinating and managing multidisciplinary engineering project teams (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical) and collaborating with design and construction groups; Demonstrated ability to manage projects on operational industrial sites, including contractor supervision and adherence to site-specific safety requirements; Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and changing project demands.
