Project Manager – Structured Cabling & Wireless

Job Overview The Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing large-scale structured cabling, Wi-Fi, and IP security camera projects in active, secured facilities to ensure they are completed safely, timely, and within budget. Plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep customers and stakeholders informed the entire way. Must be an independent self-starter who is highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and handle frequently changing priorities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Proficient and skilled with all facets of structured cabling, enterprise Wi-Fi, and IP video surveillance systems. Serve as primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, and facility stakeholders from kickoff through closeout. Ability to understand and carry out instructions/direction from Operations Manager to execute tasks accurately, timely and safely. Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan. Oversee project scope, financials, logistics, schedule, and documentation. Measure project financial performance to identify areas for improvement. Schedule and manage bid walks while sharing and saving information as required. Prepare bids to include BOM and all pre-labor information. Review drawings, specifications, Wi-Fi heat maps, and camera layouts to confirm scope, quantities, and coverage requirements. Structured Cabling: Oversee installation, termination, and certification of Cat6/6A copper and single-mode/multimode fiber, pathways, and telecom rooms per TIA-568/606, BICSI, and NEC. Ensure Fluke DSX test results, labeling, and as-builts are complete at closeout. Wi-Fi: Oversee deployment of Cisco wireless (Catalyst/Meraki access points and controllers), including AP mounting, PoE, Ekahau predictive and post-install validation surveys, and coverage remediation. Cameras: Oversee installation, aiming, and programming of Axis IP cameras and PoE switching, integration with VMS platforms (e.g., Genetec, Milestone), and field-of-view and image-quality verification at commissioning. Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner. Prepare a budget based on the scope of work and resource requirements. Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables. Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and material procurement and tracking. Coordinate with facility operations, security, and other trades to schedule work around live operations, including night and weekend work windows, escorts, and permits. Ensure personnel obtain and maintain required site security badging and comply with facility access and safety rules. Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution. Monitor field project progress daily and adjust as needed by managing resource allocations. Responsible for planning work schedules and assigning duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and fluctuating workloads. Managing personnel with a focus on safety, leadership, excellence, self-motivation, problem solving and teamwork, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. Set employees individual goals and communicate objectives for the team. Responsible for performing staffs’ 90 day and Annual personnel reviews. Review and approve employee time sheets and PTO. Assist with hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination of employees with Human Resources Manager. Assist with and manage team training and certification. Perform administrative functions such as reviewing, writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making informed decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
