Project Manager – Steel Fabrication & Miscellaneous Metals (Commercial Construction) A & T Iron Works, Inc. | New Rochelle, NY Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year, commensurate with experience Company Overview A & T Iron Works is a 50-year-old, family-owned miscellaneous metals fabricator and installer working primarily on commercial construction projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. We specialize in the fabrication and installation of stairs, railings, balconies, gates, fences, beams, and other custom steel products for mixed-use developments, government facilities, airports, parks, schools, and other commercial projects. We are a stable company with a long-standing reputation for quality workmanship and reliability, offering the opportunity to manage challenging projects from contract award through fabrication, installation, and closeout. Position Overview A & T Iron Works is seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage commercial steel fabrication and miscellaneous metals projects from contract award through fabrication, installation, and project closeout. This is a hands-on role requiring close coordination with general contractors, construction managers, detailers, shop personnel, field crews, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership. The position also includes regular visits to active construction sites throughout the New York metropolitan area to coordinate work, resolve field conditions, and keep projects on schedule and within budget. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple miscellaneous metals and steel fabrication projects from contract award through completion Review contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements to identify risks and potential issues Coordinate shop drawings, field measurements, RFIs, submittals, procurement, fabrication, delivery, and installation Coordinate fabrication activities with shop personnel to maintain production schedules and quality standards Develop and maintain project, fabrication, delivery, and installation schedules Communicate regularly with general contractors, construction managers, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel Track project budgets, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, committed costs, and change orders Conduct job-site visits to coordinate installation, resolve field issues, and maintain project progress Support billing, collections, punch-list completion, project closeout, and maintain organized project documentation Qualifications 3–5+ years of project management experience in miscellaneous metals, steel fabrication, architectural metals, structural steel, or commercial construction Working knowledge of miscellaneous metals, steel fabrication, architectural metals, shop operations, finishing, delivery, and field installation Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and contract documents Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, project schedules, budgets, and project closeout Strong communication, organization, negotiation, follow-through, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu; experience with Tekla EPM/PowerFab or comparable fabrication or project management software is a plus Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the New York metropolitan area Compensation & Benefits $100,000–$135,000 annual salary based on experience and qualifications Paid time off Paid holidays Opportunity to join a stable, family-owned company with more than 50 years of experience serving the New York construction industry This is a full-time, primarily in-person position based at our New Rochelle office and fabrication facility.
