Project Manager
ActalentJob Overview We are seeking a Project Manager to lead large-scale automation, material handling, and facility improvement projects within fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and industrial environments. This role is responsible for managing projects from planning through installation, commissioning, and operational handoff while coordinating vendors, contractors, engineering teams, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience supporting greenfield and brownfield projects, equipment installations, logistics planning, scheduling, and project execution in fast-paced operational environments. Responsibilities Manage automation, integration, and material handling projects from planning through installation, commissioning, and project closeout. Coordinate equipment vendors, contractors, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Lead installation and startup activities for material handling equipment, automation systems, conveyors, sortation systems, and related technologies. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and deliverables. Oversee logistics planning, vendor coordination, construction activities, and field execution. Support throughput qualification (TQ), operational readiness, system validation, and performance testing activities. Review engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support project implementation. Manage change orders, project communications, and stakeholder updates. Drive issue resolution and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Travel up to 75% throughout North America to support project installations and site activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field. 4+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Facilities Engineer, or a related role. Experience leading greenfield and/or brownfield projects. Strong project management, scheduling, and vendor management experience. Experience supporting automation, material handling, equipment installation, commissioning, startup, or capital projects. Experience working within fulfillment centers, distribution centers, logistics networks, manufacturing facilities, or industrial environments. Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, contractors, and stakeholders. Experience with material handling equipment, conveyors, sortation systems, automation systems, or large equipment installations. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, and Outlook. Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% throughout North America Preferred Qualifications Throughput Qualification (TQ) experience. Experience with fulfillment center, warehouse, or distribution center operations. Background supporting large-scale automation, material handling, or industrial engineering projects. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies. CAD experience and the ability to review layouts and installation drawings.
