Project Executive

Position Summary: The Project Executive is the senior business and delivery leader responsible for the overall performance of an assigned portfolio of custom millwork projects. This position owns project profitability, customer relationships, schedule, quality, risk, and team accountability from project turnover through closeout. The Project Executive provides executive oversight across Preconstruction, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Production, Installation, and Accounting to ensure projects are executed safely, profitably, on schedule, and in accordance with customer and contract requirements. A key expectation of the role is no surprises to ownership, the client, or the project team through early identification of risks, clear communication, and defined recovery plans. Responsibilities FinancialCommercial Leadership Own overall financial performance of assigned projects, including contract value, budget, labor hours, gross-profit targets, cost-to-complete, forecasted final cost, and projected margin. Approve project financial baselines at turnover and review project profitability regularly, with increased oversight for at-risk projects. Challenge unsupported forecasts and ensure remaining labor, material, freight, rework, installation, warranty, punch, and closeout exposure are accurately reflected. Monitor significant material purchases, vendor and subcontractor commitments, material escalation, overtime, production inefficiencies, and other potential cost exposures. Identify and address projected losses and margin erosion before exposure increases. Ensure change work is identified, priced, documented, approved, billed, and collected, with appropriate controls for out-of-scope work. Partner with Accounting to monitor billing, accounts receivable, retention, disputed pay applications, and customer collection risk. Protect Merric's commercial position through contract review, documentation, timely notices, written direction, and disciplined change control. ClientContract Leadership Serve as the executive relationship owner for key customers, general contractors, architects, and ownership groups. Participate in significant contract reviews and negotiations and ensure scope, exclusions, schedule requirements, damages, payment terms, retainage, insurance, warranty, and change-order procedures are understood. Establish clear customer expectations for submittals, approvals, material lead times, field dimensions, production release, delivery, installation, and communication. Participate in key owner and general contractor meetings when executive involvement is needed to address commercial matters, customer relationships, schedule concerns, or project outcomes. Promptly and professionally escalate overdue approvals, disputed changes, nonpayment, owner-caused delays, and material scope ambiguity. Project LifecycleDelivery Oversight Ensure effective project turnover from Preconstruction to execution, including scope, bid assumptions, exclusions, risks, budget, schedule, and customer commitments. Provide executive oversight throughout the project lifecycle, including client introduction, shop drawings, samples, submittals, returned drawings and redlines, material buyout, field verification, production release, installation, and closeout. Confirm required approvals, dimensions, takeoffs, BOMs, purchase orders, production documentation, and cross-functional handoffs are complete and accurate before work advances. Ensure drawing revisions, material changes, resubmittals, and production impacts are properly communicated between Engineering, Production, Procurement, and the project team. Confirm material risks are identified, pricing is vetted, and samples, takeoffs, and project budgets are aligned before purchase orders are released.
