As Senior Commodity/Project Buyer, you will own supplier performance across Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) for the Thermal Management segment. This covers both ongoing production and project work, where you will act as the main point of contact for suppliers. You will carry out the segment business plan by choosing the right suppliers and keeping their performance on target, using purchasing tools and your cross-functional network. This applies during production and, for Revenue segments, after production ends. The role is based at our regional headquarters in Greensboro and reports to the Head of Electromechanical Purchasing, North America. Key Responsibilities Build, negotiate, and roll out sourcing strategies that strengthen supply chain performance, product quality, technology innovation, and overall value Lead negotiations and finalize agreements with suppliers in the Thermal Management segment (air conditioning, heaters, radiators, fans, and related components) Handle sourcing during the project phase, with support from fellow Buyers and the Group Manager Help shape the segment business plan and take an active part in the global Buyer network Work with colleagues across the global supply chain to develop and deliver supply chain and technology strategies Apply the Volvo Performance System (VPS) toolbox to improve efficiency throughout the supply chain Drive the activities needed to hit QDCF targets in both current production and projects Identify, track, and reduce risk together with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) and Supply Network Resiliency (SNR) teams Assess supplier capacity on an ongoing basis to head off plant disruptions and aftermarket part shortages Project cost trends for your area of responsibility Negotiate and manage product and process changes during projects, production, and post-production for Revenue segments Handle day-to-day purchasing tasks, including production orders, logistics, and supplier payments What You Bring We aim high and want to grow with people who do the same. You should have: Background in the manufacturing industry Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills Strong business sense and an agile approach to work A collaborative mindset and commitment to shared goals Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (equivalent work experience also considered) At least 6 years of experience in strategic purchasing (such as end-to-end supplier relationship management, sourcing, negotiation, and contracts) or business development (such as client relationship management and negotiation)
