Town of North ReadingSUMMARY The Edith O’Leary Senior Center supports and serves North Reading residents age 60 or older by providing social, recreational, wellness, transportation, and educational programs. The Senior Center also connects older adults and their families with essential resources and services that promote independence, well-being, and quality of life. The Activities and Transportation Coordinator is a split role supporting two operational areas at the Senior Center. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating a diverse calendar of programs, activities, educational opportunities, and events while also overseeing the transportation needs of the community and maintaining resources to provide such services. The Coordinator serves as an important point of contact for older adults, families, volunteers, community organizations, transportation providers, and Town departments. The position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, flexibility, and a genuine interest in serving the needs and interests of older adults. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Coordination · Develop, coordinate, and maintain a diverse schedule of activities, classes, presentations, social events, and special programs that focus on health, wellness and lifelong learning. · Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, room reservations and set-up, registrations, supplies, and equipment. · Recruit and coordinate qualified instructors, speakers, entertainers, service providers, and community partners. · Monitor attendance and participant feedback and make recommendations for improving or expanding programming. · Create monthly calendar, flyers and newsletter · Develop and maintain professional collaborative relationships with community partners · Help establish and monitor program-related budgets and expenditures. · Assist with grant-related activities, including program documentation and data collection, when applicable. Transportation Coordination · Maintain transportation resource guide · Consult with residents on transportation needs and guide residents towards available resources · Meet with transportation stakeholders locally and across other towns · Oversee a volunteer-based program that provides rides to out-of-town medical appointments · Maintain Volunteer and ride matching tools · Recruit and train volunteer drivers · Utilize and monitor a transportation software platform that is use to track ride requests and submit requests to volunteers. · Coordinate wheelchair assist rides with third party vendor · Maintain vehicle inspection reports and updated vehicle type in tracking system · Provide quarterly reports to MEVA and Mass DOT on van usage and volunteer mileage · Offer transportation outreach and workshops · Jointly schedule day-to-day transportation requests; finalize daily van driver schedule SUPERVISION · Reports to Senior Center Director · Day-to-day Supervision of Program Assistant REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Associate or Bachelor Degree’s in gerontology, human services, health sciences, office or program manager, occupational therapy or relevant field. · Applicants with two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to working with the older adults and planning events/activities. · Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy and dignity of individuals. · Excellent with use of email, calendars, spreadsheets, Canva and Microsoft Office or comparable software · Independent, professional, well-organized, self-driver and team player · The employee must occasionally lift and/…
