Job Title: Professional CDL Instructor (Evening & Weekend Shift) Company: Elite CDL School Job Type: Full-Time (30–40 hours per week) Schedule: Evenings and Weekends Job Summary Elite CDL School is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Professional CDL Instructor to join our growing training team for our evening and weekend programs. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial driving—including tractor-trailer, tanker operations, and manual transmissions—and possesses the strong teaching skills necessary to effectively train adult learners. This role involves delivering comprehensive classroom instruction and practical driving lessons to prepare students for their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exams. As an instructor, you will ensure students develop the vital skills and knowledge to operate trucks safely and confidently, with a strict focus on compliance, industry standards, and safety regulations. Responsibilities Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging theory lessons on CDL topics, including air brake systems, tanker operations, and general commercial driving principles. Hands-On Training: Conduct practical driving lessons in tractor-trailers, emphasizing safe driving techniques, backing, maneuvering skills, and proper manual transmission operation (including double-clutching and shifting techniques). Exam Preparation: Prepare students for written and practical CDL examinations by providing thorough training, fair assessments, and constructive feedback. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily records of student progress, attendance, and performance using company technology. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all training activities strictly adhere to safety protocols, DOT regulations, and industry standards. Continuous Improvement: Stay current with updates in CDL requirements and safety best practices, and assist in curriculum development to improve instructional effectiveness. Mentorship: Foster a positive, patient learning environment that encourages student engagement, confidence, and success. Requirements Experience: Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically with tractor-trailers, tanker operations, and driving/training on manual transmissions . Licensure: Valid Class A CDL with endorsements for Air Brakes, Tanker, and NO manual transmission restriction . Schedule Availability: Must have open availability to work evenings and weekends consistently (30-40 hours per week). Knowledge: Strong understanding of trucking safety regulations, DOT compliance, and industry standards. Teaching Skills: Prior training or mentoring experience is highly preferred. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to adult learners. Professionalism: A professional demeanor, high patience levels, and a genuine passion for mentoring aspiring drivers. Demonstration: Ability to safely and accurately demonstrate driving practices through hands-on instruction.
