Production Team Lead - Fabrication

Job Summary The Fabrication Team Lead in Production leads and directs team members to fabricate and assemble casework & custom millwork products. This position works closely with engineering, project management and other manufacturing departments to ensure the production of high-quality and cost-effective products. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Responsibilities: Lead and direct the team’s activities by proactively planning, establishing priorities, scheduling, assigning work, monitoring progress, and resolving problems. Leads by example and drives the Quality and Safety culture by ensuring core principles, values and policies are followed and improved. Ensures the team’s overall success through training and development, coaching, mentoring and performance management. Removes barriers and obstacles to team performance. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ownership to resolve problems. Promotes operational discipline by ensuring all policies and procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed and standardized when possible. Proactively supports continuous improvement using tools such as LEAN to improve safety, quality, productivity and reduce waste and rework. Supports Production Management with team member assessment and task assignments. Set up and operate equipment (Including wide format sander and other cutting equipment) as required to maintain production schedule and ensure quality of parts produced. Inspect and verify quality of parts produced ensuring adherence to specification (E.g., Shop drawings), MRO standards and customer expectations. Work with management to identify root cause and implement improvement actions for production issues and/or non-conforming product. Interpret shop drawings and provide guidance to team on manufacture of product. Ensure work areas are well maintained, clean and organized. Coordinate and lead overtime work, as needed, to meet production demands. Qualifications/Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent. 5+ years of experience in the architectural, woodworking and/or millwork industry. Custom woodworking and/or assembly experience required; prior leadership role is preferred. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to foster a positive team environment. Must be able to effectively coach, train, and ensure compliance with established procedures. Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must have good understanding of materials and construction methods used to manufacture casework and custom millwork products. Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings. Proficient with industrial woodworking equipment and measurement tools. Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings. Able to navigate computer software (E.g. MS Office). Knowledge of ERP is a plus. Lean/5S and/or six sigma process improvement experience is a plus.
