Job Title: Production Planner Division/Department: Operations/Production Compensation: Hourly, Based off Experience Reports to: Senior Operations Manager Scope: Production Planner will work closely with Operations team to help plan product flow through manufacturing per schedule or demand. The Production Planner will perform a variety of planning activities required to attain production objectives. Assignments are relatively complex and generally involve planning activities for products and/or production processes where the manufacturing process is variable. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and control all demand management and scheduling activities supporting all product families. Follow up with Purchasing Department to ensure on-time delivery of components, raw materials, consumables. Balance production plan and inventory levels with demand to support target consistent with customer service levels, inventory turn goals, and capacity utilization/staffing requirements. Prioritize, expedite manufacturing orders to: 1) facilitate OTD goals and 2) maintain set inventory levels, 3) Optimize plant performance. Ability to work with and knowledge of manufacturing computer systems including work orders, inventory control, routings and bills of materials (MRP ERP). Obtain output information (number of finished products, percentage of defectives, etc.). Establish great communication with Team Leads to prevent production line stoppages. Interact frequently with Project Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing and Manufacturing personnel to balance supply and demand. Prepare reports about production processes for upper management and suggests ways to improve efficiency. Experienced with using ERP and/or MRP. Manage product phase-outs such that obsolete inventory is minimized, in areas of responsibility. Release production orders to the factory based on sales orders. Establish procedures for creating, tracking, and reporting raw material requisitions across two ERP platforms. Coordination of the outside processing to the respective vendors. Continuous analysis of stock levels and work in process. Analyze anticipated business forecast and for the assignment of customer due dates. Check material & component shortages and create requisitions in ERP. Liaison with customer service; resolve customer service issues with follow-ups, expedited orders, past dues. Set priorities at shop floor to ensure department goals are met. Daily monitoring of Work in Process. Conduct daily production meeting with shop floor personnel. Daily new order ads review. Manage inventory levels. Interface with Purchasing, Engineering, Sales & shop personnel. Update and maintain accurate planning information in ERP System. Keeps work area clean, safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis. Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required. EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems. Experience in the aerospace industry or other regulated industry. Minimum high school diploma. Maintain a professional appearance. WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAINING: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Loose fitting clothes and dangling jewelry are not permitted as detailed in safety requirements.
