SMS Equipment is seeking a Production Planner/Expeditor for a temporary, full-time position for a duration of approximately 6 months.

The Production Planner/Expeditor plays a critical role in coordinating, scheduling and expediting the flow of materials, parts and assemblies within or between departments based on production demands and priorities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and takes pride in keeping complex processes on track.

Work Location: Reman Branch in Acheson, AB.
Salary: $65,000-75,000/annum. This is a temporary position.
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working 5 days per week from the office.
Schedule: Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, monitor, and adjust production schedules to meet customer requirements and company objectives.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, purchasing, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
  • Expedite and follow up on late or back-ordered items with suppliers and internal departments to avoid production delays.
  • Review and analyse production, inventory, and work order reports to identify and resolve bottlenecks or scheduling conflicts.
  • Communicate production status, potential risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders, including management and customers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in production planning, scheduling, and materials management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field and 2 years of experience in production planning, expediting or materials coordination within a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered. Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles is an asset.
