Job Overview Operations Planner / Coordinator — Fort Erie, Ontario We are looking for an experienced Operations Planner / Coordinator to join our manufacturing team in Fort Erie, Ontario . This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built solid experience in manufacturing planning, production scheduling, materials or operations and is ready to take on a role where their experience and judgment will genuinely make a difference. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations , you will be a key link between production planning and the day-to-day operation of the plant. You'll have visibility across the organization and will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality and other teams to make sure the right priorities are being addressed and production stays on track. We are not looking for someone who simply maintains a schedule or moves information from one department to another . We want someone who understands manufacturing, can anticipate problems, and is comfortable taking ownership when priorities change or issues arise. Duties Scheduling & Production Flow · Build, maintain, and publish the production schedule, balancing due dates, capacity, labour, and material availability. · Act as the gatekeeper for production release: confirm every job has approved drawings, complete specifications, sign-offs, and materials before it reaches the floor, and hold jobs that are not ready. · Release work orders and keep all production data current and accurate in our ERP/production system, including routings, quantities, lead times, and status. · Evaluate rush and expedite requests against the active schedule. Determine the ripple effect (which orders move, what material changes are needed) and present a clear impact brief to the Head of Operations for sign-off before anyone commits a date. · Work with Purchasing to flag material shortages and long-lead components early, so they do not stop the line. · Coordinate modified and custom orders with Engineering and Production, making sure drawings, specifications, and change notes reach the right people before work begins. Communication & Reporting · Hold a short daily production touchpoint with the Head of Operations to capture decisions, priority changes, and problems, and get them into the system the same day. · Be the single source of truth on order status. Proactively update Inside Sales, Purchasing, Shipping, and leadership on progress, delays, and revised ship dates. · Track and report key production measures such as on-time delivery, schedule adherence, backlog, and late orders. Process, SOPs & ISO 9001 · Map and document how work actually flows from order entry to shipping, and identify where information is lost, delayed, or duplicated. · Own SOP management for Operations: build and maintain the library of standard operating procedures and work instructions, control versions and approvals, run a regular review cycle with process owners, retire outdated documents, and make sure the floor is always working from the current version. · Update SOPs whenever a process changes or a recurring problem is fixed, and coordinate training so people are signed off on the new procedure before it takes effect. · Help build our ISO 9001 quality management system as we implement it: map processes, write the procedures and forms it requires, set up document control and record-keeping, and keep production and training records audit-ready as we work toward certification. · Recommend and help put in place practical improvements to scheduling tools, forms, and communication routines. Experience · College diploma or degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience · Four or more years in production planning, scheduling, or coordination in a manufacturing environment (requir…
