Production Planner
Dunbarton CorporationDunbarton Corporation is seeking a Production Planner to join our team who is responsible for optimizing production processes, overseeing the flow of materials, and ensuring timely delivery of products while working closely with various departments, including engineering, procurement, and customer experience, to ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly and efficiently. Essential Job Functions Develop, maintain, and adjust master production schedules and shop orders based on customer demands and capacity limits Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to ensure raw materials and components are available when needed Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials Collaborate with procurement, production supervisors, quality control, and sales to resolve delays, track work orders, and adjust for changes Monitor production progress and make adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance to resolve production issues Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly production reports Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards Manage inventory levels to minimize excess stock and reduce costs Facilitate communication between production teams and management Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss production goals and strategies Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including regular on-site attendance at Dunbarton facilities and nights and weekends as required; regular on-site presence is an essential function of this position Performs other work as directed and required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of manufacturing processes, shop-floor workflows, standard routings, machine cycle times, and plant capacity limitations Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) principles and software systems Knowledge of inventory control methodologies, including safety stock calculations, economic order quantities (EOQ), lead-time management, and carrying cost optimization Knowledge of supply chain management principles, encompassing raw material procurement, internal production operations, and downstream distribution Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts, waste reduction strategies, value stream mapping, and the Theory of Constraints for bottleneck identification Skill in capacity planning, calculating labor-hour requirements, equipment utilization rates, and overall plant throughput Skill in risk management and contingency planning to mitigate supply chain disruptions, material shortages, and unexpected plant downtime Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production and shipping schedules Skill in use of computer hardware and software, including ERP systems, word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs Ability to plan, assign, prioritize, and adjust workflow to meet changing production priorities Ability to identify quality and process problems, determine root cause, and implement corrective action Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns Required Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in a related field Five (5) or more years of professional experience in manufacturing planning or production scheduling Certification in production or inventory management, e.g. APICS, CPIM, CSCp Preferred Ten (10) or more year…
