Production Operator
OpTech Enterprise SolutionsPOSITION SUMMARY The Production Operator performs hands-on production, building, programming, testing, kitting, labeling, and packaging product per the production plan, work instructions, and standard work. This role also handles the materials around production: receiving and unloading, testing, storing and organizing materials, keeping inventory records, and preparing orders for delivery or pickup. This position requires a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment, and is key to meeting daily production output and on-time completion targets. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Production & Assembly Build, program, test, kit, label, and package product per the production plan, work instructions, and standard work. Set up the work area, programs, and materials for each run; operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Work with the team to meet the production schedule and daily goals. Materials & Inventory Management Receive and unload incoming materials; test, store, label, and organize materials for production. Keep accurate inventory records, including daily inventory logs and counts, and support cycle counting. Report any issues with materials or inventory to the supervisor. Order & Shipment Preparation Pick and prepare warehouse orders for delivery or pickup on schedule. Load, pack, wrap, label, and ship orders; prepare and stage finished and kitted goods for hand-off. Quality at the Source Follow quality standards; inspect your own work and flag defects before they move downstream. Scan serial numbers and apply/verify labels; release only confirmed-good units. Perform rework and reprocessing on non-conforming or system-failed units, including customer-directed reprocessing. Records, Safety & Team Support Record production completion, keep activity logs, and support the related system transactions and data entry (e.g., scanning, counts). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace (5S); report safety, equipment, or material issues. Assist in peer-training new team members on company standards, safety protocols, quality standards, and production objectives. Support special initiatives, such as inventory relocation and managing seasonal surges, as needed. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Hands-on production/assembly skill Materials handling, receiving, and inventory record-keeping Attention to detail and quality at the source Ability to follow work instructions and standard work Basic math and reading; detailed, accurate data entry Basic computer skills Teamwork in a fast-paced environment Dependability and time management DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma/GED required. 2 years of experience in production, warehousing, or a related field, preferred (electronics programming/kitting a plus). Experience managing inventory and participating in cycle counting, preferred. Ability to follow standard work and quality requirements. Ability to lift 30 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibility but may assist in training new team members. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates in a Production and Warehouse Environment. POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position; standard days are Monday through Friday. This position may periodically require long hours or weekend work to meet operational needs.
