Production Operation Manager

Job Summary The Manufacturing Production Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This position provides leadership to production supervisors, team leaders, and manufacturing employees while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, staffing needs, and company goals are consistently achieved. The Production Operations Manager works closely with senior management and other departments, including Human Resources, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to identify operational issues and implement effective solutions. Essential ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations Direct and oversee daily manufacturing and production activities. Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met. Monitor production output, efficiency, downtime, scrap, and labor utilization. Establish priorities and adjust production activities as needed to address operational demands. Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions. Ensure equipment, materials, and personnel are available to support production requirements. Maintain effective workflow throughout production areas. Review production reports and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Leadership & Personnel Management Provide leadership and direction to production managers, supervisors and team leaders. Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable. Assist with staffing, workforce planning, and employee scheduling. Monitor attendance, overtime, productivity, and employee performance. Support employee training, development, coaching, and corrective action processes. Promote effective communication between management, supervisors, team leaders, and production employees. Address employee concerns and operational issues promptly and professionally. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost. Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives. Analyze production data and recommend process improvements. Reduce unnecessary downtime, waste, scrap, overtime, and labor costs. Standardize successful processes and ensure improvements are sustained. Encourage employees to identify and report opportunities for improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience may be considered. Minimum of 5 years of progressive manufacturing or production management experience. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations. Experience with production scheduling, workforce planning, and performance management. Working knowledge of workplace safety and quality requirements. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze production data and prepare operational reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production/ERP systems. Preferred Qualifications Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience. OSHA safety training or equivalent safety management experience. Experience managing multiple shifts. Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience with continuous improvement programs. Experience with ERP/SAP systems. Previous experience managing managers, supervisors and team leaders. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods. Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, noise, temperature variations, and other industrial conditions. Ability to wear required PPE.
