Overview Nordex, Inc. is an engineering-driven company with major operations in gear manufacturing, CNC machining, and assemblies for the medical device, robotics, automation, aerospace, and defense industries. We are seeking a Production Expediter / Scheduler to coordinate the movement of work, materials, and information throughout our manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will monitor and adjust production priorities, expedite work both on the shop floor and with outside vendors, ensure materials and work orders are available when needed, and communicate changing priorities throughout the organization. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who is highly organized, responsive, and comfortable working throughout a manufacturing facility to solve problems and keep production moving. This position is primarily scheduled for an early first shift, with a strong preference for a 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 6:30 AM–3:00 PM schedule. Responsibilities Coordinate and adjust daily production schedules based on changing priorities, material availability, machine capacity, and customer requirements. Expedite jobs throughout the shop and with outside vendors, following up on delays and rearranging priorities as needed to keep production moving. Release work orders to the shop floor and ensure jobs, prints, materials, and additional operations are available at the appropriate machine centers. Track and move work throughout the facility, including raw materials, work orders, and parts awaiting the next operation. Coordinate assembly work and support shop communication, including monitoring the Shop and Assembly email and following up on required actions. Coordinate company drivers and assist with shipping activities, including shipping forms and documentation. Process purchase orders and order shop, shipping, and safety supplies, as well as expedite outside services. Maintain production and facility records and spreadsheets, including work orders, material tracking, scrap, and basic facility and safety items. Assist with inventory and raw material control and maintain an organized raw material cage. Operate a forklift and company vehicles as required. Qualifications Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, scheduling, expediting, or material-control environment. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change throughout the day. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with machinists, assemblers, supervisors, vendors, and management. Ability to read and understand work orders, production information, and basic engineering drawings. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications. Experience with production scheduling, manufacturing ERP systems, or similar production-control software. Experience expediting outside vendors, purchased services, and materials. Experience with shipping documentation or willingness to learn shipping requirements and forms. Strong attention to detail and follow-through, with the ability to identify problems, take initiative, and follow up until issues are resolved. Familiarity with OSHA requirements and workplace safety programs, including safety supplies, HazCom, and related facility safety requirements. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems is a plus. Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles as required.
