Production Control Specialist

Title: Production Control Specialist II / III Location: Cape Canaveral, FL Pay: $45-$60/hr. on W2 Duration: 12 Months+ Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Additional shifts and overtime may be required) Position Overview We are seeking experienced Production Control Specialists to support high-volume manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role focuses on backlog reduction, work order management, production scheduling support, MRP/ERP data integrity, and expediting critical jobs to maintain production flow. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly within ERP/MRP systems, resolving production bottlenecks, and supporting multiple work centers to ensure operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Drive reduction of work-order backlogs by reviewing, updating, and closing aged, idle, or stalled work orders. Resolve issues involving kitted materials, work order delays, and production constraints to improve workflow efficiency. Execute expediting activities for priority jobs by identifying material shortages, kit requirements, and process blockers. Coordinate with production, material planning, manufacturing, and support teams to prevent schedule delays. Maintain accuracy and integrity of ERP/MRP system data through timely transaction processing and updates. Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and support continuous movement of production orders through the manufacturing process. Provide coverage during alternate shifts, overtime, or peak production periods as needed. Communicate daily status updates regarding backlog reduction efforts, production priorities, and shift handoffs. Identify recurring production constraints and escalate issues to leadership for long-term corrective actions. Partner with production control teams to support assigned work centers and sustain operational performance. Assist with schedule management, production planning activities, and continuous process improvement initiatives. Support additional production areas as business needs evolve while maintaining data accuracy and workflow efficiency. Required Qualifications Experience in production control, manufacturing planning, scheduling, expediting, or backlog management within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Costpoint, Oracle, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of work order processing, production workflows, material management, and inventory transactions. Experience maintaining production data accuracy and resolving operational discrepancies. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts as required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with backlog remediation, data cleanup projects, and production recovery initiatives. Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project management tools. Experience supporting both development and production manufacturing environments. Background in aerospace, aviation, automotive, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries. Experience analyzing production metrics and driving process improvements.
