Production Control Manager

Position Summary The Production Control Manager is a hands-on middle-management position responsible for scheduling, sequencing, coordinating, and driving the execution of production orders across Imex Vision's paper cup manufacturing operations. The position takes existing production orders and determines the most efficient sequence and timing for running them through printing, paper cutting, and cup forming. Scheduling decisions must consider customer delivery requirements, machine capacity, material availability, cup type and size, paper specifications, printing requirements, bio-paper requirements, molds, tooling, machine setups, changeover time, labor availability, and other production constraints. This role requires more than maintaining a production calendar. The Production Control Manager must make frequent operational decisions, communicate those decisions clearly to supervisors and production employees, and ensure that the production floor executes according to the established priorities. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical scheduling skills with practical manufacturing judgment, leadership ability, communication skills, and the confidence to direct day-to-day production activities. Key Responsibilities · Develop and maintain detailed daily and weekly production schedules for printing, cutting, and cup-forming operations. · Determine the most efficient sequence of production orders while balancing customer delivery dates with manufacturing efficiency. · Group compatible production runs whenever practical to minimize machine setups, mold and tooling changes, cleaning, adjustments, downtime, and waste. · Consider hot versus cold cups, printed versus non-printed products, bio-paper requirements, cup sizes, paper specifications, forming requirements, molds/tooling, and machine setup requirements when sequencing production. · Understand the capabilities and limitations of individual machines and determine the appropriate machine assignment for each production order. · Coordinate the flow of work between printing, cutting, and forming so that downstream operations receive the required material at the appropriate time. · Evaluate the operational impact of schedule changes before moving production orders, including additional setup time, mold changes, downtime, labor requirements, and disruption to other scheduled work. · Monitor actual production throughout the day and compare progress against the schedule. · Respond quickly to machine downtime, quality issues, material shortages, staffing limitations, rush orders, and changing customer priorities by making appropriate scheduling and operational decisions. · Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints and incorporate them into production scheduling decisions. · Track scheduled versus actual production and investigate significant variances. · Escalate potential customer delivery delays and significant capacity or operational issues to management in a timely manner. · Coordinate with Warehouse, Purchasing, Quality, Maintenance, Customer Service, and other departments regarding issues that affect production execution. · Maintain accurate production status and scheduling information in the company's ERP and production systems. · Continuously identify opportunities to improve production sequencing, throughput, machine utilization, workflow, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
