Position Overview A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Procurement & Supply Planning Manager to lead purchasing, material planning, inventory management, and supplier performance initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability while balancing inventory, service, cost, and operational objectives. The successful candidate will oversee a team of six Material Planners and Buyers and serve as a key leader within the supply chain organization. This individual will collaborate closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Logistics, and Finance to develop effective supply plans, optimize supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement across procurement and planning processes. Key Responsibilities Procurement Leadership Lead all purchasing activities to ensure timely procurement of direct and indirect materials. Develop sourcing strategies that support cost, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives. Manage supplier relationships and performance across delivery, responsiveness, quality, capacity, and commercial terms. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with suppliers. Partner with suppliers to resolve shortages, expedite critical materials, and mitigate supply disruptions. Evaluate supplier risks and develop contingency plans to support business continuity. Supply Planning & Material Management Develop and manage supply plans based on demand forecasts, inventory targets, supplier lead times, and manufacturing capacity. Monitor material availability and proactively identify shortages, bottlenecks, and inventory risks. Lead inventory planning efforts to maintain appropriate service levels while optimizing working capital. Drive monthly S&OP participation through data-driven analysis and recommendations. Coordinate recovery plans and corrective actions when supply constraints occur. Analyze forecast accuracy, demand trends, and inventory performance to improve planning effectiveness. Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop a team of 6 Material Planners and Buyers. Establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and professional development plans. Provide guidance on planning decisions, supplier management, inventory control, and procurement best practices. Foster a culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, problem solving, and operational excellence. Analytics & Reporting Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and KPI metrics using advanced Excel and ERP systems. Monitor key supply chain metrics including: Inventory Turns Service Levels Forecast Accuracy Material Availability Supplier On-Time Delivery Cost Savings Inventory Accuracy Conduct scenario planning and data analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Finance to align supply plans with business objectives. Present inventory, supply, procurement, and supplier performance updates to leadership. Lead initiatives aimed at improving processes, systems, reporting, and overall supply chain performance. Support ERP optimization, planning improvements, and supply chain transformation efforts. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Planning, Materials Management, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Operations. 3+ years of leadership experience managing planners, buyers, purchasing teams, or material management professionals.
