Trident Maritime SystemsJob Description TITLE: Procurement Manager REPORTS TO: General Manager Position Summary Procurement Manager is a skilled manufacturing professional who oversees an organization's acquisition of goods and services, aligning purchasing strategies with financial goals to secure the best value, quality, and supply continuity. Is responsible for overseeing Supplier relations and transportation details for a company. Their duties include evaluating their employers’ brand and target audience to determine what products to order, monitoring delivery times from warehouses or manufacturing plants to retail locations and hiring and training purchasing staff members to carry out purchasing tasks. Responsibilities / Authorities Research market conditions, identify business needs across departments, and develop plans to source raw materials, equipment, or services. Evaluate vendors using criteria like production capacity, financial stability, quality certifications, and pricing Secure favorable pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, and protective legal clauses to reduce total cost of ownership Maintain ongoing communication, track performance metrics (KPIs), and resolve delivery or quality disputes Mitigate supply chain disruptions by diversifying vendor bases, auditing supplier health, and creating backup plans. Review purchasing data to track spending patterns, eliminate maverick (unsanctioned) spend, and forecast future financial needs. Partner with finance, legal, operations, and production teams to ensure purchasing compliance and operational alignment Manage procurement staff, assign workflows, set departmental targets, and ensure adherence to company and regulatory policies. Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production Conducting cost analysis and setting benchmarks for improvement Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary Working closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable Provides insight and input for the review and/or revision of current materials. Assists in the execution and management leaders to support Contract Due Dates. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management 5-10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain or vendor management. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (excel, Word, PowerPoint) Minimum 3 years’ use of Customer Relationship Management CRM Platforms. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently and lead teammates Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Oral, written and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of supply chain risk, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing. Ability to develop vendor controls, contract safeguards Ability to identify issues through sound analysis and application of commercial acumen in all situations. Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. Excellent IT skills. Flexible with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
