Procurement Manager – Electronics Manufacturing (High-Mix / Low-Volume PCBA)

Job Overview Join Our Team We are seeking a results-driven Procurement Manager to lead our purchasing and supply chain operations in a fast-paced high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for developing strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, ensuring uninterrupted material availability, and driving continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and inventory performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing, electronic component sourcing, and complex supply chains while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems. Key Responsibilities ● Develop and execute strategic procurement plans for electronic components, PCBAs, fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies, and indirect materials. ● Lead supplier selection, qualification, contract negotiations, and ongoing supplier performance management. ● Establish long-term sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, and supply chain resilience. ● Manage procurement activities in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment with rapidly changing customer demand and engineering revisions. ● Ensure uninterrupted material availability to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. ● Develop contingency sourcing plans for allocation, obsolescence, and global supply chain disruptions. ● Source hard-to-find and long lead-time electronic components during industry shortages while maintaining quality, traceability, and counterfeit avoidance practices. ● Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to support New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and customer requirements. ● Monitor commodity trends, market conditions, lead times, and pricing to proactively manage procurement risk. ● Optimize inventory levels while balancing customer service, working capital, and production requirements. ● Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP/MRP system and establish procurement performance metrics. ● Lead and mentor purchasing personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Qualifications ● Minimum of 7 years of procurement or supply chain experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. ● Required experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA). ● Demonstrated success supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing operations. ● Strong understanding of electronic components including semiconductors, passives, connectors, PCB fabrication, cable assemblies, and electromechanical components. ● Proven experience sourcing electronic components during global supply shortages, allocation events, and end-of-life (EOL) situations. ● Experience developing alternate sourcing strategies and qualifying replacement components to minimize production risk. ● Knowledge of counterfeit component mitigation, supplier traceability, and authorized distribution channels. ● Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics. ● Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications ● Experience operating within ISO 9001 and AS9100 certified manufacturing environments. ● Familiarity with IPC standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721, and IPC-2221, with an understanding of how these standards impact supplier quality and manufacturing requirements. ● Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial, or medical electronics manufacturing. ● APICS/ASCM (CPIM or CSCP), CPSM, or CPM certification. ● Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
