As the Procurement Manager at Greenhouse, you’ll play a key role in keeping our supply chain strong, sustainable, and efficient. This role will lead sourcing for ingredients, packaging, and production materials, ensuring we have the right products, at the right time, and at the right cost.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Operations, Quality, Planning, and R&D, while managing relationships with local and international suppliers. The Procurement Manager will also be a key contributor to cost-saving initiatives, packaging innovation, and sustainability goals.
Key Performance Outcomes:
- Cost Savings: Deliver annual procurement cost savings while maintaining product quality and supplier reliability.
- Fill Rate: Maintain 95%+ Fill Rate ensuring no material shorts.
- Supplier Performance: Maintain relationships with supplier and ensure quality and service metrics are met.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintain 98% accuracy for raw materials and packaging inventories.
- Project Timeliness: Complete packaging and sourcing projects on time and within budget.
- Compliance: Ensure 100% accuracy in customs and food safety documentation
Statement of Work & Responsibilities:
Supplier & Relationship Management
- Build and nurture strong supplier relationships to support quality, cost, and service-level goals.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance through regular meetings and evaluations.
- Onboard new suppliers, coordinate samples and trials, and maintain documentation and approvals.
- Manage supplier payments, deposits, and invoice discrepancy resolution with the accounting team.
Procurement Operations
- Manage purchasing of packaging (cartons, caps, bottles, labels, corrugate), ingredients, and production supplies.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of SKUs, recipes, and batch records in DEAR.
- Plan purchases based on weekly production schedules and forecasts.
- Handle import logistics and prepare customs documentation (CUSMA, CCI, tariff codes).
- Ensure accurate receiving processes and documentation in DEAR.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Planning and Production on weekly purchasing needs.
- Support Quality and R&D with sourcing and supplier documentation.
- Participate in Organic and SQF audits, mock recalls, and traceability exercises.
- Manage procurement co-op students and provide ongoing performance feedback.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and supplier optimization projects.
- Strengthen supply chain resiliency through proactive risk identification and mitigation.
- Lead sustainable packaging and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Execute Supplier RFPs for cost savings and supply chain resiliency
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of procurement experience, ideally in food, beverage, or packaging.
- Strong supplier management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Cin7 preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of customs documentation, importing processes, and Canadian compliance requirements.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.
