Procurement and Purchasing Specialist Location: Albany, New York Join the Explore Industries Team! We are hiring a Procurement and Purchasing Specialist to support sourcing and day-to-day purchasing for our Albany, New York operations. This on-site role helps ensure materials, components, and equipment arrive on time, at the right cost, and ready for production. You will turn demand forecasts and production needs into a practical buying plan, work with suppliers, manage purchase orders, and help keep inventory at the right level. Success depends on balancing cost, quality, service, and lead time while partnering with operations, quality, warehouse, finance, and vendors. Key Responsibilities Source and purchase materials, components, equipment, packaging, freight, and supporting services. Identify and work with suppliers, obtain competitive pricing, and recommend purchases using cost, quality, and delivery comparisons. Negotiate price, lead time, terms, and delivery so production has what it needs when it needs it. Convert forecasts, bills of material, inventory levels, and lead times into a purchasing plan. Create and manage purchase orders from release through receipt; expedite or adjust orders as demand changes. Maintain purchasing data in the ERP system, monitor material availability, and flag shortages early. Help manage supplier performance, resolve receiving and invoice issues, and avoid excess or obsolete inventory. What We’re Looking For Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Five or more years of experience in procurement, purchasing, materials planning, or a related manufacturing supply-chain role. Experience working with suppliers, comparing quotes, negotiating terms, and managing purchase orders. Working knowledge of ERP or purchasing systems, inventory planning, lead times, and supplier follow-up. Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into clear recommendations. Clear communication, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced plant environment. Ability to work across departments, resolve issues, and follow work through to completion. Manufacturing, durable goods, or multi-site purchasing experience preferred. Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPIM is a plus. Why Explore Industries? Compensation Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually Actual compensation will be based on experience and job-related skills.
