Procurement Analyst (6 months temporary)

Reports to: Manager – Materials Management & Procurement Expert Services

Job Type: 6 months, temporary

Department: Procurement Expert Services

Location: Hamilton

Salary: starting at $32/h

About the role

Safety is the Core Value of Stelco and the individual will make Safety the #1 priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor/vendor safety in support of work efforts. This is an existing vacancy.

This position is accountable for transactional support across procurement and inventory management, ensuring availability of required goods and services to support operational needs, while maintaining optimal stock levels.

What you’ll Do

  • Administration of all day-to-day procurement and inventory control activities ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Issue requests for quotation (RFQs) for lower value, lower risk products and services

  • Review purchase requisitions, inventory levels, and planned orders

  • Handle expedited orders, monitor material availability, and communicate with internal customers and external vendors

  • Work with accounts payable and materials management to resolve invoicing and receiving discrepancies

  • Resolve inventory discrepancies (cycle counts, adjustments)

  • Responsible for finding innovative ways to reduce non-value-added transactions and improve inventory accuracy and turnover

  • Monitor supplier quality, service and resolve associated issues

  • Perform other related procurement responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the role

What you bring to the table

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or Related Field

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in supply chain, marketing, business, or related field or 2 years equivalent experience with a bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or Related Field

Job Skills and Knowledge:

  • Technical knowledge and experience in heavy industry would be an asset

  • Strong computer applications skills specifically in spreadsheets and data manipulation. Knowledge in MS D365 an asset

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and obtain desired results

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage high volume of frequently recurring transactions in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner with supervision

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
