Private Collector Wine Steward

Manhattan Wine Company seeks an experienced wine steward to join our New Jersey based team. MWC (mwcwine.com) was founded in 2006 as a customer-first, full-service fine wine storage provider serving private collectors across the Tri-State area. The ideal candidate will possess substantial preexisting wine knowledge, particularly in the swift and accurate identification of specific bottlings based on labels or other clear markers. Work occurs in a fast-paced, often reactive warehouse environment. Team members master a sophisticated inventory management system. Being organized, extremely detail oriented, and aware of activities around you are crucial. This position is full-time. Standard warehouse hours begin at 7:30 AM and continue until approximately 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Specific activities may require flexibility to continue past normal closing time. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Inbound property accurately into private collector accounts using inventory software to capture elements such as vintage, bottle size, and bottle quantity paired to a specific wine description from a preexisting list Scan and put away cases to bar coded shelving locations throughout the warehouse. Pick outbound orders accurately using pick sheets and handheld scanner devices. Safely pack and label property for ultimate fulfillment. Assist in loading and unloading pickup/delivery vehicles throughout the day. Courteously answer incoming telephone calls and route to appropriate team member. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must submit a complete work history resume and referrals to be considered for this position. Although not mandatory, preference given to individuals who have completed WSET or CSW certification. Demonstrate ability to identify wine bottlings from across all wine regions down to a granular level. All suitable applicants will be subjected to criminal background checks. Must be 21 years of age or older. REQUIREMENTS Willingness to stop and ask questions and minimize avoidable errors. Communicate rather than assume. Ability to push, pull, stand, walk, bend, squat, twist and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively. Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and order picker (will train). Ability to prioritize concurrent tasks and maintain positive attitude. Given periodic interaction with clients maintain appropriate dress and grooming standards. Adhere to company standards, policies, regulations, and procedures established by MWC and third party human resource partner. Candidate must be able to reliably provide their own transportation to and from the warehouse at either our Ramsey or Clifton, NJ facilities. Training to occur in both facilities.
