Location: Washington, DC Job Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: Hybrid — currently requires in-office work in Washington, DC up to 3 days per week. The on-site requirement is subject to change based on government direction and program needs and may increase to full-time, five days per week. KAIA is seeking an experienced Print Specialist to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Printing and Graphics Program in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing print projects from initial customer request through production and delivery. The Print Specialist will work directly with government customers, printing vendors, and program personnel to develop specifications, coordinate outsourced print procurement, monitor schedules and costs, perform quality control, and ensure projects comply with Government Publishing Office (GPO) and federal printing requirements. Responsibilities Print Production & Project Coordination Manage print projects ranging from routine requests to complex production assignments. Develop printing specifications and coordinate projects through procurement, proofing, production, inspection, and delivery. Track project schedules, costs, and status in the CBP Print Management Database. Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Identify production issues, delays, or deviations and work with the appropriate parties to resolve them. GPO & Federal Printing Requirements Apply Government Publishing Office procedures, policies, and federal printing requirements to assigned projects. Prepare and process applicable GPO forms and supporting documentation. Ensure outsourced printing conforms to Title 44 U.S. Code, Joint Committee on Printing requirements, and applicable CBP procedures. Interpret and apply printing guidelines, policies, specifications, and procedures. Quality Control Review printer proofs and production materials for accuracy and compliance with specifications. Perform or coordinate prepress, in-process, press sheet, and final inspections as appropriate. Verify that finished materials meet established quality and production standards. Identify printing defects, production problems, or deviations from approved specifications and coordinate corrective action. Apply knowledge of paper, inks, coatings, digital printing, and other print-production methods when evaluating work. Vendor & Customer Coordination Coordinate with printing vendors on quotes, specifications, proofs, production schedules, and deliveries. Provide technical guidance to customers throughout the printing process. Work professionally with government staff at all levels, including program staff, managers, Branch Chiefs, and Directors. Maintain regular communication with customers and vendors and provide timely status updates. Resolve print production and procurement issues in a professional and customer-focused manner. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in print production, print procurement, print project coordination, or print quality control. Strong knowledge of commercial and/or government printing processes. Experience developing printing specifications and managing projects through production and delivery. Experience reviewing proofs and performing print-production quality control. Strong customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, specifications, and technical requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC up to 3 days per week under the current schedule, with flexibility to work on-site more frequently if government requirements change.
