President & General Manager — Freight Marketplace (New Launch)
ConfidentialA new Canadian freight marketplace is about to launch, and it needs an operator to run it. The founder has built the platform and the first shipper base; what’s missing is the person who will take it from development-complete to self-sufficient within twelve months — recruiting the carrier network, building the first team, and owning the P&L. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has
...
dispatched trucks, managed owner-operators, and wants to run a business rather than a department.
About the company
We are a Canadian technology company (name confidential at this stage) launching a subscription-based load board and freight ecosystem that connects shippers directly with carriers — no brokers in the middle. Our customers are single-truck owner-operators and small fleets, and the shippers who want to work with them directly. Platform development is nearly complete, the first shipper is committed with daily volume, and an initial group of owner-operators has already signed on for launch. You’ll be the first senior hire, reporting to the founder.
What success looks like at 12 months
The platform has launched, a growing base of paying carriers is active and retained, local shippers are posting loads daily, your team of three handles support, dispatch and onboarding without you in every call, and the business covers its own costs.
What you’ll own
• Launch and the first 90 days: carrier onboarding, shipper activation, and manual load matching while the network is still small
• Carrier network growth — recruiting, vetting and retaining owner-operators and small fleets across Ontario, then nationally
• Hiring and leading the first team: a customer service representative, a dispatcher and a freight operations manager
• Vetting standards and compliance (CVOR, insurance, safety ratings) and the dispute mediation process that protects the platform’s reputation
• Shipper acquisition in the GTA and surrounding regions
• The P&L — revenue, retention, cost control and the path to self-sufficiency
• The product feedback loop with our development partner, turning what carriers and shippers tell you into platform improvements

• Daily working experience with Loadlink or a comparable load board
• Experience building a team or division from the ground up
• Working knowledge of Ontario carrier compliance (CVOR, insurance, safety ratings)
