Role Description The Power Grid Dispatcher at Pigeon River Consulting is a contract, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for monitoring power grid operations, coordinating load distribution, and ensuring reliable and safe electricity delivery across assigned networks. The dispatcher will analyze real-time data, respond to grid disturbances, execute switching orders, and communicate with field crews, utility partners, and internal stakeholders. Daily tasks include managing system alarms, updating operational logs, following established protocols and regulatory procedures, and supporting incident response and restoration efforts. The role also involves collaborating with engineering and IT teams to optimize grid performance and maintain accurate documentation of all operational activities. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in power system monitoring, load management, and grid control operations. Candidates should possess skills in incident response, outage coordination, and safe switching procedures. Candidates should possess skills in interpreting technical diagrams, using SCADA or similar control systems, and maintaining precise operational records. Candidates should possess skills in communication and collaboration with field crews, operations teams, and external partners. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure. Relevant experience in utility operations, grid dispatching, or power plant control room environments is beneficial. A technical diploma or degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or a related field is beneficial; equivalent practical experience will be considered. Knowledge of applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices is beneficial.
