Qualifications REQUIRED: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a biomedical discipline or related field. Demonstrated foundational laboratory expertise in sterile techniques, reagent preparation, cell manipulation, and mammalian cell culture. PREFERRED: Expertise or prior hands-on experience with flow cytometry or mass cytometry by time-of-flight (CyTOF). The Masonic Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism (MIBAM) is seeking a highly motivated candidate to drive the daily operations, research execution, and service delivery of the MIBAM CyTOF Core. In addition to basic laboratory skills, the ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have strong communication and organizational skills, and work well in a collaborative team environment. About the CyTOF Core Mass cytometry (CyTOF) is a form of single-cell analysis, similar to flow cytometry, that employs a modified time-of-flight mass spectrometer to measure relative protein abundance. The overall objective of the MIBAM CyTOF Core is to provide lab support and services for cellular analysis, including quality-controlled platforms, validated custom reagents, and analyses of CyTOF data. About MIBAM The University of Minnesota’s Masonic Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism is an interdisciplinary team aiming to advance research on the fundamental biology of aging. Our goal is to discover ways to therapeutically target aging, which will enable extending the healthspan. Responsibilities Execution and Support of Research Experiments (80%) Contribute to antibody panel design and validation, and execute standard CyTOF experimental protocols. Perform routine custom antibody conjugations adhering strictly to established standard operating procedures. Acquire CyTOF data and lead basic data processing, quality assessment, and analytical workflows. Oversee daily laboratory operations and routine maintenance, including reagent inventory management and compliance with chemical and hazardous waste disposal protocols. General Core Operations Support (20%) Assist with laboratory procurement, supply receiving, and tracking of inventory records. Monitor instrumentation maintenance schedules, perform routine calibration checks, and troubleshoot technical issues.
