Port Night Dispatcher

Job Overview As a Port Night Dispatcher, you’ll keep freight and vehicle movements coordinated through the night. You’ll dispatch road transportation, track vehicles using Global Positioning System (GPS) tools, and communicate updates to drivers, customers, and internal teams. Your work supports safe, organized port operations and dependable service. Duties Coordinate vehicle dispatch and freight movements using dispatch software and transportation management systems, including Oracle Transportation Management where applicable. Monitor vehicle locations and routes; use Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and transportation planning information to support dispatch decisions. Manage calls on multi-line phone systems, provide customer service, and relay clear updates to drivers and internal teams. Enter and verify shipment, dispatch, and shipping and receiving data; maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office. Apply Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and road transportation operations procedures while supporting logistics, supply chain, and fleet management activities. Your impact: Accurate dispatch coordination helps drivers stay informed and enables customers and port teams to plan freight movements with confidence. Experience Strong communication, phone communication, phone etiquette, and internal communication skills; able to manage calls professionally. Organized and accurate, with typing, data entry, and analysis skills. Experience in dispatching containers from Long Beach / Los Angeles Port, transportation management, freight, logistics, Familiarity with vehicle dispatch software, transportation management systems, GIS, or GPS is preferred. Knowledge of transportation planning, supply chain, fleet management, road transportation operations, and DOT regulations is an asset.
