Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with tanker trailers to transport freight over long distances, including over-the-road (OTR) routes. Load and unload cargo with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations (HazMat). Navigate using GPS systems to follow designated routes efficiently while maintaining awareness of traffic and road conditions. Adhere strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations governing commercial truck driving, including hours of service and safety protocols. Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Manage logistics cargo handling processes, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods. Load and unload freight at various locations, ensuring proper truck loading techniques for safety and efficiency. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers such as flatbed or tanker trucks. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations related to dangerous goods transportation. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record. Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Physical ability to manually handle cargo during loading/unloading processes while maintaining safety standards.
