Hours: Per Diem / On Call Title: Plow Truck Driver - Winter Seasonal Laborer Location: DPW Garage, Town Property & Roadways Department & Supervisor: Public Works, Highway Division Manager Salary Range: $30.00 per hour Bargaining Unit: Non-Union Summary The Town of Shrewsbury Department of Public Works is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Winter Operations team as Per Diem Plow Truck Driver - Winter Seasonal Laborer for the 2026–2027 season! These employees (not contractors) will operate Town-owned heavy equipment to plow and salt roads during snow and ice events, playing a critical role in maintaining safe travel for our residents, businesses, and emergency responders. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to perform essential service for the Shrewsbury community alongside a dedicated, supportive team. Because winter weather is inherently unpredictable, this role requires a strong work ethic and the flexibility to work extensive, extended hours as needed during active storm cycles including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Qualified candidates should be resilient, highly reliable, and fully comfortable operating heavy machinery in severe, low-visibility, and hazardous road conditions. What You’ll Do Operate Town vehicles & small plow equipment to clear snow Apply salt and assist with winter roadway treatment Respond during active snow, ice, and freeze events Follow safety procedures and direction from DPW leadership What We’re Looking For Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License (Required) CDL Class B License (Preferred) Ability to report to work during storms, including nights/weekends/holidays Capacity to work outdoors in severe winter conditions A commitment to teamwork, reliability, and public safety Help keep Shrewsbury safe this winter — join our DPW team!
