Role Description The Plant Yard Supervisor is responsible for the daily care, organization, and movement of plant material within the plant yard, as well as for the plant yard space and its structures as a whole. This role plays a critical part in ensuring plant health, accurate inventory, and a smooth morning workflow for landscape installation crews. A level head, strong work ethic, calm demeanor, and excellent communication are essential to this position's success. Responsibilities Maintain plant health Perform daily watering of plant material according to seasonal and plant-specific needs Prune and maintain plants to ensure health, quality, and install-ready appearance Scout regularly for pests, disease, and plant stress; report concerns promptly Support install operations Pull and stage plant orders accurately and efficiently for landscape installs Support morning operations to ensure landscape crews can load and depart efficiently Receive inventory Work with the Plant Buyer to coordinate schedules- both deliveries and pick ups. Receive nursery deliveries, verify counts and quality, and organize incoming material Pick up plant orders from local vendors as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant yard, greenhouse, and structures within. Assist in troubleshooting plant health or logistical issues as they arise Key Characteristics Job knowledge: knowledge of horticulture; plant names, identification, and habits such as light requirements and watering needs. A strong communicator and can efficiently use and navigate a variety of softwares Ability to work independently and as a team player Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Physically able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform frequent, heavy lifting of plant materials.
