  Job Title:  Plant Operations Intern  Department:  Operation   Position:  Summer Intern       Job Summary    IHI Power Plant - Rockaway Peakers location in Rockaway, NY  is looking for an inquisitive and highly motivated person who can effectively communicate to join our team as a Summer Intern in 2026. Our dynamic team is highly skilled in our field and enjoys teaching others what we are passionate about.  If you are selected for the internship you will learn about an industry that is essential to everyday life. Come with the right attitude and aptitude; and we will teach the skills!    Job Functions    Complete web-based safety, environmental, compliance, and operational training.  Gain exposure to the broad range of power generation career paths by shadowing various craft and management level personnel.   Learn the basic function and safe use of tools used in power generation.   Document your experience and present a summary of your time at Armstrong Power to Management.    Education    Preferred but not required:  Currently enrolled in or planning on attending a 2–4-year program, or interested in exploring employment opportunities within the power industry. At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.    All candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:  Interest in learning about what it is like to work in a power plant environment.  Commitment to following all safety protocols, time and attendance policies and following directions.  Ability to grasp new concepts.  Willingness to learn from others and work in a team environment.     Other Qualifications    Salary Range:                  $25.00/Hour  Work Schedule:               8:00am-3:00pm with a 1 hour lunch, Monday-Thursday  Travel Percentage:         None    Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and safety boots must be worn in the performance of some duties.      Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
