Planning and Scheduling Expeditor
Quality Electrical SystemsOverview Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM The Planning and Scheduling Expeditor keeps jobs moving through metal fabrication and assembly to support on-time completion and shipment. This role serves as the link between Project Management, Planning & Scheduling, and the production floor. The Expeditor tracks every active job from engineering release through shipping, clears roadblocks, expedites priority work, and provides internal customers with accurate, timely status updates. This position requires regular production-floor engagement, strong cross-functional coordination, and the ability to identify and resolve issues before they affect committed completion and shipping dates. _________________________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Production Expediting Push jobs through metal fabrication and assembly to meet committed completion and ship dates. Quickly expedite priority and hot jobs when customer needs, schedule changes, or late orders require it. Walk the production floor daily to verify each job's actual status and location rather than relying solely on system information. Identify bottlenecks, missing parts, and workcenter backlogs early, and work with supervisors to resolve them. Track and move job folders, travelers, and drawings to ensure each work center has the information needed to begin work on time. Follow up on rework, nonconformances, and quality holds to prevent delays to downstream operations. Job Order Process Ownership Understand the complete Job Order process, from Engineering and nesting through Production Control, Scheduling, Production, and Shipping. Confirm each job is ready for release by verifying approved drawings, completed nests, material availability, and accurate routings. Identify jobs stalled between departments, such as those awaiting Engineering revisions or nesting, and help Production proactively move them forward using appropriate tools and processes. Verify that job status in the ERP/MRP system matches actual productionfloor status, and flag or correct discrepancies. Liaison Between Project Management and Production Serve as the primary point of contact between Project Management and production teams for job tracking and expediting. Gather production updates and provide clear, accurate status information to the Planning & Scheduling Manager and Project Management. Communicate risks and delays early so Production can develop recovery plans. Promptly communicate Engineering changes, customer change orders, and priority shifts to the production floor. Attend production, scheduling, and project meetings to report job status and capture action items. Planning & Scheduling Alignment Work closely with Schedulers to align jobs in production with their required completion dates. Compare actual production progress against the schedule and report jobs that are ahead of schedule, on track, or behind. Provide productionfloor input on capacity, labor availability, and realistic lead times to improve schedule accuracy. Help resequence work when priorities change or when machine downtime, employee absences, or material delays occur. Tracking, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain a job tracking log or dashboard showing the status, location, next operation, and promised date for every active job. Produce daily or weekly reports on late jobs, atrisk jobs, and ontime delivery performance. Document root causes of late jobs and recommend process improvements to prevent recurring delays. Keep job records, folders, and system data accurate and up to date. Monitor job progress and identify risks early enough to support corrective action and protect committed ship dates. _________________________________________________________ Knowledge and Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, Production Control, Scheduling, or Expediting, ideally in metal fabrication or assembly.
