Pilot Truck Driver – Heavy Haul Escort GST Logistics Inc. | Spruce Grove, Alberta Job Description GST Logistics Inc. is looking for a reliable, safety-conscious Pilot Truck Driver to join our growing heavy-haul transportation team. Based in Spruce Grove, Alberta, GST Logistics provides specialized transportation services throughout Western Canada and beyond. The successful candidate will work closely with our heavy-haul drivers and Dispatch team to safely escort oversized and over-dimensional loads. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of communication, planning, hazard recognition and professionalism on the road. Roles and Responsibilities Operate a pilot/escort vehicle for oversized and over-dimensional loads. Lead or follow heavy-haul equipment as required by permits and regulations. Identify and communicate road hazards, overhead obstructions, narrow bridges, construction zones and other potential risks. Maintain clear, consistent two-way radio communication with truck drivers and other escort vehicles. Review planned routes, travel restrictions and permit requirements before departure. Conduct pre-trip inspections of pilot vehicles, warning lights, signage and safety equipment. Assist with traffic control activities when properly trained and authorized. Maintain accurate trip records, inspections and required documentation. Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, route changes and safety concerns. Stop operations and report unsafe conditions before proceeding. Maintain company vehicles and equipment in a clean, professional condition. Required Qualifications Valid Class 5 driver's licence or higher. Acceptable driver's abstract. Previous pilot truck or heavy-haul escort experience preferred. Knowledge of provincial highway regulations and oversized-load escort requirements. Strong communication and decision-making skills. Experience using two-way radios. Ability to read maps, follow designated routes and recognize road hazards. Ability to work independently and as part of a transportation team. Willingness to travel, work flexible hours and stay overnight when required. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Additional Assets Experience with heavy-haul, oilfield or specialized transportation. Valid First Aid and H2S Alive certification. Traffic control or flagging training.
