Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Pilot Car Driver, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of oversized or heavy-haul loads across various routes. As a key safety ambassador, you will escort and guide large vehicles through challenging terrains, construction zones, and congested traffic areas. Your expertise in driving specialized vehicles, adherence to safety protocols, and excellent communication skills will help us deliver projects smoothly while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction. Duties Escort oversized or heavy-haul loads along designated routes, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations Operate specialized pilot vehicles such as pickup trucks or flatbeds equipped with necessary safety signage and communication devices Use GPS navigation systems to follow planned routes accurately and adapt to route changes as needed Maintain constant communication with drivers, dispatchers, and traffic control personnel via mobile devices or radio to coordinate movements effectively Conduct pre-trip inspections of the pilot vehicle, including checking air brakes, mechanical components, and safety equipment Assist with load & unload procedures when necessary, ensuring safe handling of equipment or materials during transit Monitor weather conditions and adjust driving strategies accordingly to ensure safety in adverse weather conditions Requirements Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating standard passenger cars and commercial vehicles such as pickup trucks, flatbeds, or box trucks Proven experience with route driving, shuttle driving, or escorting heavy loads on over-the-road (OTR) routes Knowledge of GPS navigation systems and fleet GPS tracking tools for route planning and real-time tracking Ability to perform heavy lifting using manual handling techniques or equipment like pallet jacks when needed Familiarity with traffic regulations including air brake systems, manual transmissions, and commercial vehicle operation standards Strong communication skills for coordinating with drivers, clients, and traffic authorities effectively Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus Capable of driving in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or fog while maintaining safety standards Experience in freight transportation, heavy haul operations, or military driving is advantageous Demonstrated commitment to safety protocol adherence and safe lifting practices Join us as a Pilot Car Driver if you’re passionate about safe transportation practices, enjoy navigating complex routes with precision, and thrive in a role that combines technical skill with excellent customer service.
