Duties Lead oversized or heavy haul vehicles through designated routes, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations Use GPS navigation systems and fleet tracking tools to monitor routes and communicate with drivers effectively Conduct pre-trip inspections of escort vehicles, including pickup trucks or vans, to verify mechanical condition and safety equipment Assist with load & unload procedures when necessary, utilizing manual handling techniques and equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, drivers, and law enforcement using mobile devices to coordinate movements and respond to any incidents Drive in adverse weather conditions or challenging terrains while adhering strictly to safe driving practices Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols related to heavy hauling, tanker operations, or other specialized transport requirements Skills Proficiency in GPS navigation and fleet GPS tracking systems for route planning and real-time updates Experience operating standard passenger cars, pickup trucks, vans, or commercial vehicles such as flatbeds or box trucks Knowledge of over-the-road (OTR) driving routes, heavy haul procedures, and commercial truck driving regulations Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices; familiarity with mechanical knowledge is a plus Strong understanding of traffic regulations including air brake systems, manual transmission operation, and adherence to safety protocols Excellent communication skills for coordinating with drivers, dispatchers, law enforcement, and customers Experience with shuttle driving or moving heavy equipment in warehouse or yard environments is advantageous Join us as a Pilot Car Driver and be part of a dedicated team that drives safety forward!
