Description of Responsibilities The Pharmacy Technician role requires strong relationships with the operations teams to act as a conduit to effective execution of new orders and implementation of custom customer solutions. This role is based in the corporate headquarters. The IV Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing, compounding, labeling, and dispensing sterile intravenous medications in accordance with pharmacy procedures, USP standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. This position works closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure medications are prepared accurately, safely, and efficiently. Reporting Relationship Director of Pharmacy Operations; Pharmacist in Charge Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician include the following: Prepare sterile intravenous medications, including IV admixtures, antibiotics, and other compounded medications. Perform sterile compounding in accordance with USP <797> standards and established pharmacy procedures. Accurately calculate, measure, and compound medications using appropriate aseptic technique. Verify medication orders and compounding instructions prior to preparation. Performs accurate dispensing functions that are related to lot assignments, label printing, and supplies. Performs quality checks prior to pharmacist verification and organizing medications for pharmacist verification. Maintains a clean, organized, and properly stocked compounding area. Complete routine cleaning and disinfection of compounding areas and equipment Ensures all names and addresses are correct on each label and shipment. Confirms all pending dispenses and shipments at the end of day to ensure all work is completed appropriately. Orders / maintains an accurate inventory of nursing supplies, medications, shipping supplies, etc. Assists with inventory management and inventory counts Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients, providers, and peers. Work collaboratively with internal staff to ensure all issues are addressed in a timely manner. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer. Additional tasks as required by management. Qualifications and Preferred Skills Preferred Pharmacy Technician license with the State Board of Pharmacy (where applicable). Current, active and in good standing technician license/registration in the state of employment Previous experience working in a Retail / Specialty Pharmacy / Physician Office / Insurance IV admixture/sterile compounding experience Experience with USP <797> requirements Organizational skills are sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records. Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions. Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail. Candidates should have a working knowledge of pharmacy applications. Knowledge of medical terminology Data entry skills required.
