Niagara Falls Memorial Medical CenterJOB DESCRIPTION: Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is seeking Purchasing Coordinator to work in our Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Purchasing and Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible to coordinate the purchasing and inventory control activities for all pharmaceuticals and other necessary products used within the Pharmacy Department. SHIFT: 8:00am -4:00pm NATURE AND SCOPE: The Pharmacy Purchasing and Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible to maintain a current inventory of all formulary products, obtain nonformulary items as necessary, and perform clerical activities related to these tasks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for purchasing prescription and over-the-counter medications. Exerts proper inventory controls over drug products within the Pharmacy Department. Trains designated pharmacy personnel and student interns in the Purchasing and Inventory Control areas of the Pharmacy. Advises the Pharmacy staff of any changes, problems or availability concerning pharmaceutical products. Serves as a liaison between the Pharmacy Department and the Materials Management Department. Available as required on an on-call basis to secure needed medications during the evenings and weekends. Purchasing Activities – Orders pharmaceutical products from vendors, types purchase orders, post receipts, and delivers completed orders to Purchasing Department. Maintains appropriate records and files using the computerized Inventory Control System. Receiving and Shipping – Unpacks boxes, verifies receipt of goods versus purchase orders and packing lists, and communicates with Materials Management Department. Places incoming goods in an appropriate environmental storage area to comply with U.S.P. Standards. Records – Maintains the computerized Inventory Control System. Updates prices, adds new products and deletions. Assists with formulary revisions. Maintains records for controlled drugs and alcohol for both federal and state governments. Other – Resolves problems related to drug purchases. Expedites paperwork. Reviews expenditures and reports budget status to the Director. Processes outdated drugs for return to manufacturers for credit. Maintains the storeroom in a neat and orderly manner. Performs other duties as requested. Requirements High School Degree Knowledge of purchasing procedures. Knowledge of inventory and inventory control processes. Excellent organizational skills. One to three years experience as a certified pharmacy technician or equivalent.
