In this role, you will engage in an extensive training program designed to teach you how to operate highway equipment and perform essential maintenance tasks that keep our roads safe and reliable. You will learn about safety measures, proper equipment usage, and environmental responsibilities while working alongside experienced team members.
Beyond operating machinery, the job will help you develop skills in various manual labor tasks using both powered and hand tools, including shovels, rakes, chainsaws, jackhammers, tampers, mowers, trimmers, and patching tools. Trainees will be taught how to choose the right tools for each job, reduce wear and tear, and report any missing or damaged equipment. This practical experience will equip you to effectively support maintenance crews and prepare for a career as a fully qualified equipment operator.
