Check out this video for more information! DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role involves operating roadway equipment and performing manual labor to support highway and bridge maintenance. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other equipment used in highway and bridge maintenance CDL Requirements: Maintain the required CDL and complete certifications for heavy trucks, loaders, and construction equipment Traffic Control: Perform flagging duties to guide and protect traffic when not operating equipment Manual Labor Tasks: Use various tools to perform tasks such as clearing brush, repairing guiderails, and cleaning culverts Equipment Care: Complete field adjustments, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Travel, overtime, and shift work is required. Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Special Requirements: This position requires p ossession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent. All positions require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work. Additional Requirements: This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit at the time of application.
