AGI Construction, Inc.Job Title: Parts Inventory Specialist – Construction Garage The Parts Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the maintenance and repair operations of a construction company’s vehicle and equipment fleet. Based in the company’s garage or maintenance facility, this role ensures that parts and supplies for trucks, heavy equipment, and tools are readily available, accurately tracked, and efficiently organized to minimize equipment downtime and keep construction operations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management Maintain a well-organized inventory of construction vehicle and heavy equipment parts including filters, tires, hydraulic hoses, fittings, tools, and fluids. Track inventory levels using computerized systems or spreadsheets to ensure optimal stock on-hand. Conduct routine inventory cycle counts and perform full physical audits as needed. Forecast usage trends based on maintenance schedules and equipment usage. Receiving & Distribution Receive incoming parts shipments and verify accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders. Inspect parts for damage or defects and process returns when necessary. Tag, label, and store parts in designated areas for quick and easy access. Issue parts to mechanics and technicians, recording all movements accurately. Vendor & Purchasing Coordination Place orders with approved suppliers based on stock levels and repair needs. Communicate with vendors to track orders, confirm pricing, and resolve delivery issues. Evaluate vendor performance on cost, availability, and delivery times. Garage Support & Operations Work closely with garage supervisors and fleet mechanics to anticipate parts needs for scheduled and emergency repairs. Maintain cleanliness and safety in the parts storage areas and contribute to the overall efficiency of the garage. Assist in organizing and staging parts for planned maintenance or rebuild projects. Reporting & Documentation Generate usage and inventory reports for management and provide recommendations on purchasing and stocking strategies. Maintain accurate records of all parts movement, receipts, and returns for audit and budget tracking. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics a plus. 2+ years experience in parts inventory or fleet maintenance support, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment. Working knowledge of parts for construction vehicles and equipment (e.g., skid steers, excavators, dump trucks). Experience using inventory software (e.g., Fleetio, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems) and basic MS Office tools. Key Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Familiarity with mechanical terminology and understanding of part compatibility. Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Capable of lifting heavy parts and working in a physically active garage environment. Effective communication and teamwork with mechanics, supervisors, and vendors. Work Environment Based in the company’s garage or equipment yard. Regular exposure to loud noise, dust, and moving equipment. May require lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varying weather conditions.
